If you do something or experience something that makes your heart beat a little faster, then keep doing it and see where that path leads you. Hill Harper Actor & Activist
This exercise was inspired by the quote above. It answers the question “what makes your heart beat a little faster” by making you aware of what piques your interest and what increases your energy.
For the next several weeks, focus on finding what interests you, what makes you feel energized or inspired when doing it*, or what causes your heart to flutter, even just a little bit. I believe many of us are so bombarded with all the activities and conversations around us (both meaningful and meaningless); all the endless sights and sounds of our daily lives; and all our internal thoughts that we easily miss those moments. We must deliberately focus our minds in order to be fully aware of them. And when they happen, write them down, text them to yourself, record them on your cell phone, or note them in some other way. Then you can take steps to explore those areas to see where they lead you. It may be to a newly found passion or purpose that changes your life.
*Includes people you are working with or talking to.
