"I want people to realize they have it in themselves. If you have that passion, that fire, that drive, that desire... you can overcome any obstacle and any challenges to really achieve what you want and prove yourself to the world. Everyone is very capable. Much more capable than they think they are."
And Christine knows what she is talking about. If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then the video to the right is worth a million words. Watch it and be inspired to be positive and move beyond your perceived obstacles to pursue your passion.
At 20 years old, Christine was diagnosed with having neuromyelitis optica, a disease that affects various parts of the body, including the eyes. Over the next several years, Christine gradually lost her sight and by age 27 she was blind. However, she was determined to live a full life and by doing so she achieved many remarkable accomplishments.
Christine's passion for cooking lead her to enter the MasterChef cooking competition, a national TV show on the Fox Network. In the end, she beat out 100 chefs, winning the $250,000 grand prize plus a cookbook deal. As the first blind person to win this competition, she inspires all of us to find and follow our passions.
